Atlanta VA Health Care System announces executive leadership change

Atlanta, GA – Today, the Atlanta VA Health Care System announces the retirement of Executive Director Ann R. Brown, effective September 25, 2023.

Ms. Brown’s steadfast commitment to the Department of Veterans Affairs spans nearly 30 years. Her leadership has left a lasting impact on our organization and, most importantly, on the lives of countless veterans and their families. Her tireless efforts to ensure that veterans receive the care and support they deserve have made lasting impact, and her legacy will continue to shine brightly in the VA's mission.

Mr. Dan Dücker will serve as acting Medical Center Director for the Joseph Maxwell Cleland Atlanta VA Medical Center until a permanent replacement is identified. Mr. Ducker has served as the Tennessee Valley VA Health Care System Executive Director since April 2022.

Prior to his current role, Mr. Dücker became the Fayetteville VA Coastal Health Care System Executive Director in June 2019. As the executive director, he led a team of more than 2,500 health care professionals and staff, serving more than 85,000 Veterans at 15 locations throughout 19 counties in southeast North Carolina, with an overall operating budget of more than 750 million dollars.

The Atlanta VA executive leadership team remains committed to maintaining the highest level of care and service to Veterans, their caregivers, and family members during the transition.
