Benton Harbor Clinic Up and Running

BH

The Battle Creek VA Medical Center held the official ribbon-cutting ceremony on its new Benton Harbor VA Outpatient Clinic on October 18, 2022.

Veterans, Staff, and members of the Executive Leadership Team gathered for the event.  U.S. Rep. Fred Upton and Staffers from Sens. Peters and Stabenow were in attendance as well as representatives of the MVAA, VFW, DAR, and several other community partners. Acting Director Dr. Ketan Shah thanked the special guests, VA Engineers, local staff, and Veterans for their efforts to make the event successful. Ribbon cutting took place at 11:00 am, followed by refreshments and a tour of the facility.

The new clinic is fully functional, and Veterans were coming in for appointments before and after the event, for the same services as the previous location, focusing on Primary Care and Mental Health for Veterans.  The new clinic offers additional space to accommodate other specialties in the future, to be provided based on the needs of the community and provider availability. “It’s so much more convenient for me now,” said a Veteran, arriving for an appointment.  “It’s right off the highway, and right next to the stores I planned on visiting anyway.” The Benton Harbor VA Clinic is located at 1275 Mall Drive off I-94 Exit #29.

The new location is conveniently located right off Interstate 94, just minutes from I-196, US-31. It’s still on the Blue Route Bus Line and only 10 minutes from downtown Benton Harbor and St. Joseph. With 115 parking spaces, and 14,459 square feet of provider space, offering comfortable exam and consult rooms and an open teamwork area.

Our Benton Harbor VA Clinic offers full disability access, offering transit ramps, wheelchairs and walkers for our visitors, and handicap-accessible restrooms.  The Benton Harbor clinic also offers electronic billboards and a Veteran workstation for logging on to VA Video Connect or My HealtheVet. It’s a wonderful upgrade to our services here in southwest Michigan and will serve our staff and Veterans well for years to come.
