Bay Pines VA Recognized as Health Care Equity High Performer

Bay Pines , FL — The Human Rights Campaign Foundation has named Bay Pines VA Healthcare System a LGBTQ+ Healthcare Equity Index High Performer for 2024.
“Our commitment to ensuring equity for every employee and those we serve has never been stronger, and we are proud that our hard work has been recognized by the Human Rights Campaign Foundation,” said Bay Pines VA Interim Director and CEO Kris Brown. “We want all employees and Veterans who are members of the LGBTQ+ community to know that we value you and our facilities will always be a welcoming, safe, and inclusive place for you to work and receive world-class health care."
Bay Pines VA received 95 out of 100 possible points, based on the following criteria:
- Non-Discrimination & Staff Training
- Patient Services & Support
- Employee Benefits & Policies
- Patient & Community Engagement
- Responsible Citizenship
Details on the rating and scoring for Bay Pines VA may be found here. The five-point deduction occurred because Bay Pines VA Healthcare System does not provide gender affirming surgeries. This surgical option is currently not authorized at any VA medical center in the country.
