Bay Pines VA to Provide Flu Vaccination for Enrolled Veterans
PRESS RELEASE
September 24, 2024
Bay Pines , FL — It’s flu season, Veterans enrolled in the Bay Pines VA Healthcare system can get a free flu shot by visiting their primary care provider or one of our walk-in clinics.
“Although there is not a requirement to receive the flu vaccination, it remains critical that we provide all Veterans with options to make the best decisions for their health care needs,” said Bay Pines VA Acting Deputy Director Justina Wells. “We feel that offering the flu vaccine achieves that goal.”
Studies show that getting a flu shot can reduce illness and death from flu. Get a flu shot and practice healthy habits like getting enough sleep and exercise, eating a balanced diet, and drinking plenty of fluids to stay healthy.
The flu shot is safe and effective, and you cannot get flu from the flu shot. Because the vaccine gets updated annually, Veterans should make sure they get the shot each year in the fall.
Even though flu season starts in the fall, it’s never too late to get a flu shot, as flu season can continue into spring. So, make today the day you protect yourself, and those around you, against flu.
For more information on the flu vaccine, Veterans can ask their primary care provider or go to our website at https://www.va.gov/bay-pines-health-care/programs/covid-19-vaccines/.
