Fire at the Jamaica Plain campus

March 19, 2024

BOSTON , MA — There was a fire this morning, March 19, 2024, near the MRI suite in Building 1B of the Jamaica Plain VA campus.

The fire department responded, evacuating affected areas. The fire was extinguished, the fire department cleared the building, and people are being allowed back inside, with the exception of the MRI suite.

Safety for patients and staff is always our top priority, followed by continuing to provide patient care, and we are rescheduling appointments as needed. MRI appointments are being rescheduled. Nearby areas were also evacuated and effects on their operations are being evaluated. Updates will be provided as they become available.

The cause of the fire is being reviewed.
