Butler , PA — The Butler VA Health Care System is hosting an informational event for the Great American Smoke Out, an annual event that challenges people to quit smoking on that day or use that day to make a plan to quit.

The Great American Smoke Out is November 17

What: The Butler VA Health Care System is hosting an informational event for the Great American Smoke Out, an annual event that challenges people to quit smoking on that day or use that day to make a plan to quit.

Veterans can learn more about their whole health and how smoking impacts it, as well as talk with VA staff about the many quit tools VA provides, including the free weekly Veteran group.

Who:  Veterans, their family members, and caregivers are invited

When: Thursday, November 17, 2022—10:00am-2:00pm   

Where: Abie Abraham VA Health Care Center ; 353 North Duffy Road, Butler, PA 16001        

Background: There is a long history of smoking and other tobacco use in the military. Many Veterans used tobacco while they served, particularly during deployment. Now seven out of every 10 Veterans who smoke would like to quit — for both the physical benefits and their mental health.

The Butler VA has a range of evidence-based treatments that have led countless Veterans to long-term success. Veterans are encouraged to talk with their VA provider or call the Tobacco Clinician at 878-271-6216.
