CINCINNATI — The Cincinnati VA Medical Center (VAMC) will host an on-site hiring event on Saturday, Dec. 9, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 3200 Vine Street. The event is open to all community members, and same-day job offers will be made to qualified housekeeping aids, food service workers, cooks, and health technicians. No registration required.

“At VA, we have some of the best and brightest employees in the health care industry, whose work centers on a shared purpose: making a difference in the lives of Veterans and their families,” said Justin Ramke, Cincinnati VAMC Chief of Human Resources. “If you are a talented, hardworking, and reliable person interested in opportunities for competitive pay and career advancement, we’d be honored to have you at the event!”

All Veterans and non-Veterans are welcome to participate in the hiring event, as VA is committed to ensuring equal employment opportunity (EEO) for applicants and employees.

In a policy statement signed by VA Secretary Denis McDonough, the Secretary attributes VA’s success to “the appreciation of diverse experiences, backgrounds and perspectives, of both Veterans and VA employees,” as well as employees’ “talents, ideas and perspectives” of which they may offer “freely and without fear of reprisal.”

Representatives from human resources and various departments will be on-hand to assist applicants through the application and onboarding process. Potential applicants should come to the hiring event equipped with the following to ensure an efficient application process:

  • Resume that reflects qualifications and related work experience
  • DD214, VA disability letter, and/or SCH A letter (if applicable)
  • 2 forms of ID
  • At least 2 references

Those under consideration for a position should also be prepared to undergo a background check and, depending on the position, drug testing during the event.

If someone is interested in applying for a position at the Cincinnati VAMC but cannot make it to the hiring event, they may visit USAJOBS and search Veterans Affairs in Cincinnati, OH to view open job announcements.
