Dr. Gerson Teran completed his training in Internal Medicine at the Quillen College of Medicine. – East Tennessee University.
After practicing as a hospitalist at Mountain State Health Alliance, he moved to Little Rock, Arkansas, and began working at Central Arkansas Veterans Healthcare System with the academic hospitalist program. Later acting at Chief of Staff of Operations, he was responsible for starting the Direct Hospitalist Program. In 2017, Dr. Teran moved to North Chicago and began working at The Captain James A. Lovell Health Care Center, the first Federal Health Care Center, a partnership with the US Department of Veterans Affairs and the Department of Defense, a fully integrated facility in North Chicago, Great Lakes. There he served as Department Head of Transitional Medicine responsible for all acute inpatient services, long term care, intermediate, and home based primary care programs. He has also served as the Acting Associate Director of inpatient services while supporting the merge of Nursing Executive services. Dr. Teran was also detailed to VA Illiana Healthcare System as Chief of Staff. Prior to becoming the Chief of Staff, Dr. Teran served as Interim Chief of Staff at the Louis A. Johnson VA Medical Center from February through August 2021. Dr. Teran is certified Black Belt Lean 6-Sigma.
