VA Downriver Community Clinic Opening June 3
As VA works to bring care closer to our heroes, the John D. Dingell VA Medical Center will be opening a clinic in the Downriver area.
The clinic will be located at 1640 West Fort Street in Trenton. This new clinic will bring care closer to Veterans in the Downriver region and will offer full scope primary care services and connected to our network of specialty care providers and services.
If you are a Veteran currently enrolled for VA healthcare you will have an opportunity to receive your treatment at the V A Downriver Clinic. Doors are opening June 3rd, 2024.
The Downriver clinic aims to be a hub for all Veterans in the Downriver area. Return here for the more information as we get closer to June 3.
Meet the Team
Dr. Erik Coopes is the Section Chief for the Downriver and Pontiac CBOCs. Dr. Coopes is a graduate of Ross University School of Medicine and University of Detroit Mercy. Following medical school he pursued a family medicine residency at Western Reserve Health Education, gaining comprehensive training in caring for underserved patient populations. After his residency, Dr. Coopes worked at Beaumont Urgent Care, where he focused on providing high quality urgent care services while focusing on process improvement initiatives.
Being driven by a commitment to serving veterans he joined us at VA Detroit Health Care System as a primary care physician in the fall of 2023. Since joining the VA, Dr. Coopes has made significant contributions to quality improvement projects, including helping to enhance coding and billing practices, incorporating quality metrics into patient care workflows, and integrating MCIR data into CPRS. His professional interests encompass high-quality patient care, medical education, and quality improvement initiatives. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his fiancée, their two dogs and golfing.
