Mr. Thomas R. Talamante is the Deputy Director of VA Eastern Colorado Health Care System, where he provides leadership to the health care system’s fiscal operations, which oversees an annual budget of more than $938 million.
Additionally, he oversees the organization’s quality, safety and value service, organizational compliance, strategic planning and development and the equal opportunity department, which support the health care system’s 18 sites of care and more than 3,300 full time employees. He joined the VA ECHCS team in 2019 as the Chief of Health Administration Service and was quickly recognized as an effective and efficient leader who has also served as the Acting Assistant Director, and Associate Director. Prior to joining VA ECHCS, he served as Deputy Chief of Health Administration Service for the VA Greater Los Angeles Health Care System. Mr. Talamante began his VA career when he joined the VA San Diego Health Care System as a call center Medical Support Assistant. Throughout his career, Mr. Talamante has remained focused and dedicated to the support of organizational operations.
Mr. Talamante graduated from San Diego State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and from National University in San Diego, California with a Master of Science in Organizational Leadership. Additionally, he also holds a Master of Business Administration from University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, Colorado. Mr. Talamante is a certified Lean Six Sigma Black Belt, and is an active member of the American College of Healthcare Executives.
Mr. Talamante is a United States Marine Corps combat Veteran who served in various leadership roles in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom.
