Fayetteville VA joins community to reach out to homeless Veterans

PRESS RELEASE

April 19, 2023

Fayetteville , NC — The Fayetteville NC VA Coastal Health Care System and the City of Fayetteville will host a Community Stand Down for Homeless Veterans on May 11 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Festival Park (Downtown Fayetteville).

Veteran Stand Down events streamline veterans’ access to homeless programs and resources and reduce barriers to important VA and community resources.

The services offered include information on health care, housing assistance, free haircuts, employment resources, substance use treatment, mental health counseling and other essential services. Food will be served. Information about new benefits impacting Vietnam, Gulf War and Post 9/11 Veterans, and American Indian and Alaska Native veterans will also be available.

The Fayetteville Area System of Transit, commonly known as FAST, will offer transportation to and from the event. Veterans are encouraged to let the driver know that the destination is the Community Homeless Veterans Stand Down.

Veterans attending the Stand Down should bring a copy of their DD214 or VA Card. Veterans who cannot furnish documentation are still encouraged to attend.
