VA Illiana to Host Drive Thru Flu Clinics

PRESS RELEASE

September 18, 2023

Danville , IL — VA Illiana will host drive-thru flu clinics for eligible Veterans October 3 -13, 2023, at all VA Illiana locations of care. Flu shots prevent the flu, flu related complications, and the spread to others.

“No appointment is necessary, bring your current Veteran ID card, and we’ll take care of you”, said Lauren Wunder, Health Prevention Disease Prevention Program Manager. “We are excited to help Veterans stay healthy and prevent illness. A flu shot may mean less frequent visits to their provider for flu-related illnesses and may also help protect those around you.”

According to the CDC each year in the United States about 30 million people get the flu. That’s equivalent to 10% of the population. Around 500,000 people spend time in the hospital and about 36,000 people die from the flu and its complications. A decision to get the flu shot is important to stay healthy and protect others. VA Illiana makes it easy for Veterans to make the right choice.

Veterans are eligible to receive a free flu shot if they are enrolled in VA health care and received care from a VA provider or an in-network community care provider within the past 24 months. Join one of VA Illiana’s drive thru flu clinics to stay healthy and protect others.
