VA Loma Linda and United Nurses Association of California renew partnership agreement in signing ceremony

PRESS RELEASE

July 20, 2023

Banning , CA — Eight years and a pandemic couldn't stop VA Loma Linda Healthcare System Pettis Memorial Registered Nurses Association and the United Nurses Association of California-Union of Healthcare Professionals from renewing their partnership in a signing ceremony at the main facility July 14.

"The agreement offers the nurses a level of security in the knowledge that their union and executive leaders support them and are willing to listen to their collective and individual voices," said Jennifer Wolfe, President of PMRNA, UNAC-UHCP.

The labor-management agreement, approved by the Veteran Affairs Central Office May 5, articulates our full partnership with the agencies. The document allows nurses to guide their performance of duties and provides a pathway to improve work practices that can positively impact the lives of the Veterans they serve. It also includes verbiage regarding the representation of Nurse Practitioners, who are considered licensed independent providers, further legitimizing their place within the organization.

"When an organization as vast as the Veterans Health Administration is willing to come to the table to work in partnership with registered nurses and nurse practitioners of the collective bargaining unit, it speaks volumes about their word and action alignment," Wolfe said.
