Dr. Charmaine Mainor's journey in healthcare exemplifies her unwavering dedication and exceptional leadership.
It began in 2003 when she joined the South Texas Veterans Healthcare System as a Student Nurse Technician, marking the start of a remarkable two-decade career dedicated to serving Veterans.
Her commitment to excellence was evident early on, as she earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio in 2004. Driven by a desire to deepen her expertise, she later pursued a graduate degree in Nursing from the University of Phoenix and achieved her Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) in Executive Nursing Leadership from Baylor University in 2024.
Throughout her career, Dr. Mainor took on increasingly challenging roles, notably serving as Chief Nurse for Acute Care, where she led initiatives that earned the prestigious Academy of Medical-Surgical Nurses PRISM Award® for two Medicine Units at South Texas. This recognition highlighted her ability to elevate patient care standards.
Currently, as the Deputy Nurse Executive at VA Long Beach, Dr. Mainor skillfully navigates the complexities of healthcare administration. She oversees patient-care operations and implements evidence-based practices, all while focusing on quality improvement and patient-centered care. Her innovative approach has significantly enhanced the experience of Veterans.
