Charmaine K. Mainor, DNP, RN, NEA-BC, CENP, is the Associate Director of Patient Care Services and Nurse Executive for the VA Long Beach Healthcare System.
She provides strategic oversight for Nursing, the Magnet Program Office, Nursing Research, Sterile Processing, Pharmacy, Chaplaincy, Social Work, and Whole Health, while driving system-wide standards for veteran-centered, evidence-based care.
An accomplished nurse executive, Dr. Mainor has a strong record of advancing shared governance, regulatory readiness, and workforce development, including leading successful Pathway to Excellence and PRISM designations, expanding specialty certification and BSN-prepared staff, and implementing initiatives that have generated significant cost savings and quality gains. She has previously held progressive leadership roles as Deputy Associate Director of Patient Care Services, Chief Nurse for Acute Care and Hemodialysis, and Emergency Department Nurse Manager within the Veterans Health Administration, where she led large, multidisciplinary teams through Joint Commission readiness, pandemic response, and major operational transformations.
Dr. Mainor earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice in Executive Nurse Leadership from Baylor University, a Master of Science in Nursing Leadership from the University of Phoenix, and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from UT Health San Antonio, and she maintains national board certifications as a Nurse Executive Advanced (NEA-BC) and in Executive Nursing Practice (CENP). She is actively engaged in scholarly and professional work, contributing to multi-site research on immune resilience and COVID-19, and holds memberships in the American Nurses Association, the American Organization for Nursing Leadership, and Sigma Theta Tau International.
