Milwaukee VA to add new clinic in Oconomowoc

PRESS RELEASE

December 20, 2023

Milwaukee , WI — A new community-based outpatient clinic to serve Veterans in Milwaukee’s western suburbs will be opening soon in Oconomowoc.

The new 8,500-square-foot facility at 1289 Olympia Fields Drive will be part of the Milwaukee VA Health Care System and will offer a variety of services to Veterans, including primary care, mental health and women’s health.

An opening date has not been set, though operations should begin in early 2024.

“We’re really excited to be able to expand services to more of our Veterans,” said Jim McLain, executive director of the Milwaukee VA Medical Center. “At this time, we’re still outfitting the building and completing hiring. We will inform Veterans and stakeholders when we’ll be able to begin operations.”

More than 10,000 Veterans live in the area, and about 5,500 of them are eligible for VA care, McLain said.

The new clinic is conveniently located just north of I-94 and will greatly reduce the number of Veterans traveling to Milwaukee to receive their care.

“We’re now better able to meet the needs of our Veterans who live in the Lake Country area by bringing the health care they’ve earned right into their neighborhood,” McLain said.

This will be the Milwaukee VA’s fifth outpatient clinic serving Veterans in eastern Wisconsin. Along with the medical center in Milwaukee, there are clinics in Green Bay, Appleton, Cleveland and Union Grove.

Ground was broken for the facility in May. The project began about two years ago and has moved at a brisk pace since, headed by developer Wangard Partners. PRA (Plunkett Raysich Architects LLP) is the architect and Kraus-Anderson Construction Company is the construction manager on the project.
