Ms. Thennis has worked at the Montana VA Health Care System since 2003.

She has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Nursing from Carroll College and a Master’s degree in Nursing and Health Administration from the University of Phoenix.

Ms. Thennis started her VA nursing career in the Outpatient/Urgent Care area then moved into Clinical Care Coordination and Occupational Health. She transitioned into an administrative role as the facility Risk Manager in 2008 followed by serving as the Chief of Quality Management since August 2010.

Prior to her VA career Ms. Thennis worked in pediatrics, medical/surgical nursing, children’s acute psychiatric care, chemotherapy, home infusion, marketing, and home oxygen and respiratory care. Ms. Thennis’ s professional development includes obtaining a master certificate in lean enterprise for healthcare six sigma
green belt, lean six sigma, essentials of business intelligence and project management in healthcare
from Villanova University. She has received training in Leaders Developing Leaders, Just Culture,
Conflict Resolution, High Reliability, Group Facilitation, Servant Leadership, and Own the Moment.

Ms. Thennis received the Nursing Excellence Award in 2008 and became a member of the National
Society of Leadership and Success at the University of Phoenix in 2020.
