Dr Hassett was appointed as the Deputy Chief of Staff of Northern Arizona VA Health Care System on May 9th, 2022.
Dr Hassett has been practicing internal medicine, previously as a hospitalist and later transitioning to primary care in 2013. He has been with the VA since 2016, previously working as a section chief, physician trainer, and staff physician. He has also operated as the Associate Chief of Staff for primary care on two separate occasions, overseeing operations in employee health during the height of the COVID pandemic, and has specialized in both informatics and policy improvement and codification during his time at the VA.
Dr Hassett is currently enrolled in the VA Primary Care Leadership program, and during his time has trained both students, physician assistants, residents, and new providers. He graduated from the University of Colorado Boulder with a BS in Mechanical Engineering, working in the Denver metro area for almost 5 years prior to continuing his education and attending medical school. Dr Hassett attend Oklahoma State College of Osteopathic Medicine in Tulsa Oklahoma and completed his residency at the University of New Mexico Internal Medicine program. He enjoys rock climbing, hiking, back packing, guitar, gardening, and spends a fair amount of time cooking.
