The Department of Veterans Affairs is pleased to announce the addition of tele-emergency care services for enrolled Veterans in the Northern Indiana area.

Did you know that you can receive same-day care benefits through your VA for a wide variety of injuries and illnesses – often from the comfort of your own home?

Even at night and on weekends, if you are experiencing new, non-life-threatening symptoms, the VA is available to you through our Clinical Contact Center. Just call your local VA at (260) 426-5431 and then press 3.

When possible, we highly recommend utilizing the VA for your same-day healthcare needs. Your primary care team will have easy access to the record of your urgent visit, creating a smooth follow-up process to help coordinate your recovery.

For life-threatening emergencies, always call 911.

Why Call the VA Clinical Contact Center?

  • Clinical triage: A Registered Nurse will evaluate your symptoms and guide you on what kind of care you need.
  • Tele Emergency Care/Tele Urgent Care Express: Available to manage non-life-threatening medical conditions all from the comfort of your home, and with no co-pay!
  • Scheduling/rescheduling/cancelling appointments
  • Pharmacy services/prescription refills

How to Call?

Here are the steps to take to when you have non-life threatening, same-day needs:

  • If you have a non-life-threatening illness or injury for which you’d like to be seen, please call your local VA at (260) 426-5431 and press 3 to be transferred to a triage nurse in our Clinical Contact Center.
  • Review your symptoms/situation with the nurse.
  • The nurse will then recommend care options that are best for you.

Non-VA Emergency Department

If you do go to a non-VA Emergency Department, please notify the non-VA ER check-in clerk that you are a Veteran enrolled with VA care. Be sure to call 844-724-7842 within 72 hours of your arrival at a non-VA ER.

Thank you, as always, for your support of our mission – to care for those who have served in our nation’s military and for their families, caregivers, and survivors.

It is our honor and greatest privilege to serve those who have served us.
