Dr. Margaret Ort is the Acting Associate Director of Patient Care Services and Nurse Executive.

Margaret Ort is the Designated Learning Officer for the Northport VAMC, and adjunct professor of Nursing at Misericordia University. A graduate of Chamberlain University School of Nursing with a doctorate in nursing practice; Dr. Ort focused her doctoral work on positive impacts of technology on patient care and subsequent interventions.  Margaret has worked both in tertiary and community-based facilities which have culminated in her current role in the Northport VAMC.  Margaret is interested and motivated in incorporating evidence-based practices in the clinical environment.

In her continued commitment to the Nursing profession, Margaret maintains her certification in Emergency Nursing (30 years), as well as certification in Clinical Nurse Leadership.  Margaret is an active member of the Pennsylvania State Nurses Association and is the former sitting chair for the PSNA nominating committee.  She has been the recipient of the Award for Nursing Excellence for the Mount Sinai Hospital.

Margaret’s greatest accomplishments are her four sons, and she is a staunch advocate for persons with functional challenges /Autistic persons.
