PRESS RELEASE

March 15, 2024

Orlando , FL — Staff at the Orlando VA Healthcare System in partnership with staff from the American Society of Breast Surgeons Foundation have teamed up to organize a Breast Cancer Prevention and Support Fair.

The fair is scheduled to take place at the Orlando VA Medical Center located at: 13800 Veterans Way, Lake Nona, Orlando Fla, on Sunday, April 14, 2024, from 11:30 – 3:00 p.m.

This event aims to raise awareness about breast cancer prevention, early detection, and support resources available to Veterans, their families, staff and the public.

The health fair will feature a variety of educational booths, interactive presentations, and demonstrations focused on breast cancer prevention strategies, including healthy lifestyle choices, screening guidelines, and risk reduction techniques. Attendees will have the opportunity to engage with healthcare professionals, ask questions, and access valuable information to empower them in their journey towards breast health.

In addition to educational resources, the health fair will offer support services for individuals affected by breast cancer, including survivorship programs, counseling resources, and community support groups. Attendees will have the chance to connect with fellow survivors, caregivers, and advocates to share experiences and find encouragement in their fight against breast cancer.

"We are thrilled to host this important event aimed at promoting breast cancer awareness and providing support to our Veteran community," said OVAHCS Director, Timothy J. Cooke. "By offering education, resources, and a supportive environment, we hope to empower individuals to take control of their breast health and access the care they need."

The Breast Cancer Prevention and Support Fair is free and open to Veterans, their families, caregivers, staff, and members of the community. Refreshments will be provided, and parking will be available on-site.
