Veterans Experience Action Center (VEAC) Event

PRESS RELEASE

August 29, 2023

honolulu , HI — FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE August 28, 2023 Veterans Experience Action Center (VEAC) Event HONOLULU, HAWAII --On August 31, 2023, and September 1, 2023, there will be a Veterans Experience Action Center (VEAC)

event where VA health care professionals and benefits counselors will be available to share information and resources with Veterans. The event will be at The Oahu Vet Center at 1298 Kukila St, Honolulu, HI 96818 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursday and from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Friday. Veterans who are already enrolled may also come for health services, health and benefits questions, community services, and much more.

VA has held more than 20 events in the community since the PACT Act was passed in August of 2022. Outreach has been a major component of operations in the Pacific Islands because of the unique nature of the area. The VA Pacific Islands Health Care System (VAPIHCS) covers 2.5 million square miles, and many of the Veterans in this coverage area are on remote islands with limited access to internet and news. Going out into the community and engaging Veterans where they live is crucial to ensure that no Veterans are left behind.

On September 7, 2023, a virtual event for Veterans from Hawaii and American Samoa will be held. Veterans do not have to pre-register for the in-person event, but they are required to register for the virtual events, and registration can be done at this link. The event for Veterans from Hawaii and American Samoa will be from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Hawaii Standard Time with services like benefits counseling, general health care assistance, burial and memorial services, and much more. Also on September 7, 2023, there will be a virtual event for Guam and the Commonwealth of the Northern Marianas Islands (CNMI). The event will be from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Chamorro Standard time and interested Veterans should also pre-register for this event. Come with your questions about health care, VA benefits, burial services, and more to get personalized one-on-one assistance from VA staff.

VAPIHCS will continue to make outreach events a priority throughout this year. Successful outreach events have been in Guam, Saipan, American Samoa, and in the islands of Hawaii to enroll Veterans who are newly eligible under the PACT Act, as well as to provide services to Veterans who are already enrolled. Getting Veterans, the benefits they are entitled to has been a big part of our work in 2023, and we will continue these events moving forward.
