This past Sunday, the Providence Vet Center hosted its annual “Come Clam with Me (Veterans Edition)” at North Kingstown Town Beach.

In collaboration with the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management and local shell fisherman Jody King (USMC), the event brought together over 50 attendees, including VA Providence employees and Veterans Rudy Rey, Cynthia Limoges, and Justyn Charon. The event was coordinated by the Providence Vet Center's Veteran Outreach Program Specialist, Edward Smith, showcasing the center’s commitment to fostering community and connection among Veterans.

Providence Vet Center Director Heather Tarducci was also in attendance, emphasizing the importance of such events in promoting wellness and camaraderie. The “Come Clam with Me” event provided Veterans and their families an opportunity to enjoy Rhode Island’s summer offerings while learning about clamming in a supportive and engaging environment. Attendees enjoyed the hands-on experience, guided by the expertise of Jody King, and relished the chance to connect with fellow Veterans in a relaxed setting.

The Providence Vet Center, dedicated to serving Veterans and their families, offers a wide range of services, including counseling for combat Veterans, military sexual trauma, and bereavement. The center also provides assistance with navigating VA benefits and resources, ensuring that Veterans receive the support they deserve. Events like “Come Clam with Me” are a testament to the center’s mission to enhance the lives of Veterans through community engagement and support.
