Women Veterans Have Access to Safe Settings and Trusted Care at VA

You belong at VA.

VA understands that trauma may affect the lives and health of many women Veterans before, during, and after military service.

Our health care staff are specifically trained to help you feel comfortable and safe at every appointment, in each exam room, and across all VA medical facilities. We acknowledge that trauma may impact your life and we are committed to providing you with safety, trust, choice, collaboration, and empowerment at every opportunity. We pay close attention to physical environment and your preferences, and work to deliver care with support and compassion. What does this look like for you? We’ll help you feel both physically and emotionally safe through actions like knocking before entering the room and sitting at eye level. We’ll work to establish trust by addressing any concerns you may have before appointments, asking permission to touch you, and explaining every stop of exams. We’ll collaborate with you on your care by providing transparent information, access to peer support, control, choice, and autonomy—all of which help to empower you to make informed decisions about your health. You belong at VA, where you have options in how you receive your care. Connect with our Saginaw Women’s Health Team at 989-497-2500 extension 12693 or call or text 1-855-VA-WOMEN to connect with care you can trust or speak with your VA health care team about your options.
