Salisbury VA Health Care System to Celebrate U.S. Army Air Forces WWII Veteran’s 100th Birthday

Salisbury , NC — Salisbury VA is cordially inviting you to attend the 100th birthday celebration of U.S. Army Air Forces Veteran Lonnie Poole Sr., who served in World War II, to be held at the Carolina Pride Community Living Center in Salisbury, North Carolina, on Thursday, January 4, 2024, at 2 p.m. EST.

Mr. Poole Sr., originally from Troy, North Carolina, enlisted in the Army Air Forces during World War II and served courageously throughout Europe, surviving artillery fire from Axis units and bearing first-hand witness to Nazi concentration camps as the Allies’ campaign progressed towards Germany.

Interviews will be available with Mr. Poole Sr., and his family; VA administrators; and Mr. Poole Sr.’s health care team members immediately following the celebration.
