VA unveils new homeless mobile medical unit at Homeless Veteran Stand Down

SALT LAKE CITY , UT — The VA Salt Lake City Health Care System’s Homeless Veteran program is holding a stand down for Utah’s homeless Veterans. As part of this year’s Stand Down, the VA Salt Lake City Homeless Team will introduce their new mobile medical unit (MMU).

The MMU will provide homeless Veterans access to on-the-spot care, traveling along the Wasatch Front. The Homeless Veteran Primary Care team will provide tours of the van. 

When:  Mobile Medical Van Ribbon Cutting 10:00 a.m.- 10:15 a.m.

               Homelesss Veteran Stand Down 10:15 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. October 4

Where: Sunnyside Park Pavilion, 1735 Sunnyside Ave, Salt Lake City, UT 84108

Who:  Homeless Veterans

The Stand Down provides our homeless Veterans a breather from the streets and connects them with services. The VA Salt Lake City homeless program coordinated the following services for the stand down: homeless medical team, Veteran Justice Outreach program, Housing Urban Development-Veterans Affairs Supporting Housing program, VASLC Food Pantry, and VASLC Suicide Prevention Team.

Our community partners, First Step House, Homeless Veterans Fellowship, Department of Workforce Services, the Road Home, and the Utah Department of Veteran and Military Affairs will also be on hand to help our homeless Veterans with a variety of services.
