Dr. Neal Yuan joined the staff of San Francisco VA Health Care System (SFVAHCS) in 2021.

Dr. Yuan is a non-invasive cardiologist with specialization in preventative cardiology, valvular heart disease, and echocardiography. He currently runs San Francisco VA Health Care System's stress testing laboratory as well as the SFVAHCS’ home-based cardiac rehabilitation program. He provides echocardiographic guidance for SFVAHCS structural procedures including MitraClip and left atrial appendage closure. He is an avid educator and enjoys teaching trainees of all levels and is currently a UCSF Bridges coach.

Dr. Yuan’s research interests are in using health IT and large datasets for individualized risk stratification and to improve care quality. He has been active in research using artificial intelligence and deep learning of echocardiograms and electrocardiograms for predicting disease phenotypes. He also runs a quality improvement program as part of the American Heart Association/VA VALOR-QI cohort aimed at lowering cholesterol levels in Veterans using health coaching.
