Ballet dancers spread cheer to Veterans at VA Sierra Nevada Health Care System

The VA Sierra Nevada Health Care System recently hosted a ballet event for Veterans in the Community Living Center.

The event was hosted by Barbara Land, a renowned dance anthropologist and owner of The Conservatory of Movement in Reno. The certified dance school has been bringing joy and delight to Veterans at the Community Living through ballet and dance. Her passion for dance and her desire to give back to the community has led her to teach ballet to the residents of three remote communities along the Yanayacu River located along the Amazon Rainforest in Peru.

“They were so precise and technically sound. This really brought back memories of my past. It was fabulous! It brought tears to my eyes,” stated Veteran Raymond Albretsen, who danced for the San Francisco Ballet in his younger years.

Ballet is a beautiful art form which brings joy and inspiration to people of all ages. VA Sierra Nevada Health Care System is committed to provide quality health care to Veterans and and this show demonstrated how dance can be used to bring meaning to people’s lives.
