Las Vegas Fisher House Celebrates 8th Birthday With an Open House

Las Vegas , NV — The Las Vegas Fisher House on the North Las Vegas Medical Center campus is hosting an open house Feb. 22 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event will showcase how the house is a “home away from home,” a place of comfort for families to be together while a loved one in undergoing medical treatment.

Where: Las Vegas Fisher House, 6900 N Pecos Rd., North Las Vegas, NV 89081
When: Feb. 22 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Why: To celebrate the eighth Anniversary of the opening of the Las Vegas House. The local Fisher House has been providing a home away from home for veteran and active-duty military families who travel to support their loved ones. Since opening in 2016, the Las Vegas Fisher House has served 7,358 families, provided 17,302 nights of lodging, and saved families nearly $2.6 million.
Additional Information: Stephanie Wheeler- Fisher House manager, Karen Estabrook- Nevada Veterans Foundation will be available for interviews. Additionally, Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association of Bullhead City, AZ will make a donation during this event. They’ll arrive at Fisher House about 10 a.m. Additionally, Kyler Matthews, Eagle Scout, will be dedicating his Honor Bench at 2:30 p.m. This bench is dedicated to the families who seek lodging at the Las Vegas Fisher House.
Background: The Fisher House provides high quality temporary lodging to Veteran and active military families who are acting as the supportive person of a loved one who is hospitalized and/or undergoing medical treatment at the VA Southern Nevada Healthcare System, the Mike O’Callaghan Federal Medical Center at Nellis Air Force Base, or other medical facilities within the Las Vegas valley. The 13,500-square-foot Las Vegas Fisher House is one of 96 currently operational houses throughout the country and in Europe with other sites identified "On the Road to 100" houses. The home features 16-suites and offers welcoming common areas including a well-appointed kitchen, large communal living, dining, family rooms, and patio.
