Nevada Service Members, Veterans, and Families Invited to a One-Stop Virtual Resource Event

PRESS RELEASE

February 13, 2024

Las Vegas , NV — The VA and state and local partners will host the Nevada Veterans Experience Action Center (VEAC) Feb. 20-22, 2024, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. PST to assist transitioning service members, Veterans, and their loved ones with VA benefits, health care, and other services by telephone.

NEVADA – The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and state and local partners will host the Nevada Veterans Experience Action Center (VEAC) Feb. 20-22, 2024, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Pacific Time to assist transitioning service members, Veterans, and their loved ones with VA benefits, health care, and other services. All appointments will take place over the telephone.

This free virtual event provides one-on-one assistance and connects Veterans, caregivers, service members, survivors, and family members with VA, state, and community partners to obtain claim status updates, file claims, enroll in VA health care, schedule appointments, provide military transition services, promote information on new PACT Act eligibility for Agent Orange, burn pits, and other toxic exposures, and connect with housing solutions, temporary financial assistance, family member, caregiver, and survivor benefits and services, and more.

A Veteran from a recent VEAC said:

"I contacted VA 15 years ago and never received this kind of service. Being able to talk to someone made the difference instead of writing a letter and not knowing where to turn, I don’t feel lost anymore. This is a great service, and now I have someone representing my claim."

The Nevada VEAC is a virtual event in which all eligible residents of Nevada, and service members can be seamlessly connected to the full range of VA and community-based services and resources while focusing on a person-centered approach.

VEACs are a collaboration that includes representation from the Veterans Health Administration, Veterans Benefits Administration, National Cemetery Administration, state Departments of Veterans Affairs, Veteran Service Officers, and community partners working together to offer one-on-one personalized assistance.

Appointments are available from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Pacific Time, Tuesday, Feb. 20, through Thursday, Feb. 22. When registering, participants will have the option to schedule a virtual appointment date and time that best fits their availability. A VA representative will call the Veteran directly within the hour of their scheduled appointment time to provide actionable services the Veteran or service member is seeking.

Appointment availability is limited. Registration runs through Feb. 18 or until appointment capacity is reached. Please note that this event is for residents of Nevada only—all registrations outside of this area will be canceled.
