Syracuse VA designated a Level 1 Age-Friendly Health System

Syracuse , NY — To date, Syracuse VA has 3 care settings and is one of 118 VA Medical Centers that have earned AFHS recognition from the IHI.
As part of #AgeFriendlyHealthSystems, we’re putting 4 important interventions into practice to improve care for #olderadults.

VA joined the Age-Friendly Health Systems (AFHS) movement so that every Veteran is provided safe, high-quality health care aligned with their unique health goals and care preferences. Nearly half of the Veterans enrolled in VA health care are over age 65 and those aged 85 years and older are projected to increase by 38% by FY 2039. VA is on track to become the largest integrated health system in the U.S. to be recognized by the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) as Age-Friendly.
