Tampa VA to Host Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for New Mental Health Clinic

Tampa , FL — The James A. Haley Veterans’ Hospital will host a ribbon cutting ceremony for the new Temple Terrace VA Clinic on Friday, January 19, 2024, from 11 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at 8451 Temple Terrace Highway, Tampa, FL 33637.
Notable attendees will include keynote speaker Dr. Shereef Elnahal, Under Secretary for Health, Veterans Health Administration. Other federal, state, and local leaders will also be present. Directly following the formal ceremony, attendees will be invited to participate in a reception and facility tours from 12:15 p.m. – 1:30 p.m.
Additionally, VA health enrollment and eligibility staff will be onsite to actively enroll Veterans for VA Health care services from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. directly inside the main entrance of the building. Veterans interested in receiving services from VA are encouraged to bring a valid form of identification and a copy of their Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty (DD Form 214).
The ribbon cutting ceremony signifies completion of the project that consolidates multiple mental health programs into one 137,000 square foot facility in Temple Terrace. Services provided include a full range of outpatient care for substance abuse, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), and therapies for a wide array of general mental health conditions.
The facility features a 30-bed residential substance abuse program that offers detox and comprehensive treatment. The design of the building is intended to offer care in a serene environment with a healing garden, passive meditation walkway as well as basketball courts, and grills in residential community spaces.
