My HealtheVet, 20 years in the making

On Nov. 9, 2023, the My HealtheVet (MHV) team celebrated its 20th anniversary. The local celebration kickoff was held at the Chattanooga VA Clinic and hosted by MVH Coordinator Claudia Cox.

My HealtheVet is an online platform that seamlessly connects Veterans to their health care team through instant messaging and offers quick access to medical records, test results, and pharmacy refills. Thanks to modern technology, My HealtheVet is just a click away on any smartphone and computer! The My HealtheVet platform was piloted in 1999 and later introduced nationally on Veterans Day in 2003.

“It’s exciting to be a part of the change and technology that will improve our Veterans experience,” said Cox.


Michael Hendon, a Veteran who uses My HealtheVet shared, “My HealtheVet helps me keep track of my records, communicate with my doctor and staff without remembering numbers or waiting on the phone, refill meds, and I can even ask the pharmacy questions. When you have a brain injury, staying organized and on task and keeping up with life is seriously a mess. My HealtheVet really helps!”

My HealtheVet continues to evolve thanks in part by Veterans, caregivers, and caring VA staff.

Each new update is made to improve Veterans’ access to care in response to their feedback. Soon, My HealtheVet will move from its current website to VA.gov. Veterans will be able to manage their VA health care on the same website as their other benefits and services. My HealtheVet is a valuable tool that every Veteran can benefit from using.
