PRESS RELEASE

November 29, 2023

Wilmington , DE — VA and partner organizations will host a virtual event to assist Veterans and family members on Tuesday, December 12th through Thursday, December 14th from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

DELAWARE AND NEW JERSEY COUNTIES OF ATLANTIC, CAPE MAY, CUMBERLAND, AND SALEM– The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and state and local partners will host the Delaware Veterans Experience Action Center (VEAC) from December 12-14, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. to assist Veterans and their loved ones with VA benefits, health care, and other services. All appointments will take place over the telephone.

This free, virtual event provides 1-on-1 assistance and connects Veterans, caregivers, Service members, survivors, and family members with VA, state, and community partners to obtain claim status updates, file claims, enroll in VA health care, schedule appointments, military transition services, new PACT Act eligibility for Agent Orange, burn pits, and other toxic exposures, housing solutions, temporary financial assistance, family member, caregiver, and survivor benefits and services, and more.

A Veteran from a recent VEAC said:

“I contacted VA 15 years ago and never received this kind of service. Being able to talk to someone made the difference instead of writing a letter and not knowing where to turn, I don’t feel lost anymore. This is a great service, and now I have someone representing my claim.”

The Delaware VEAC is a virtual event in which all residents of Delaware as well as residents of New Jersey counties of Atlantic, Cape May, Cumberland, and Salem can be seamlessly connected to the full range of VA and community-based services and resources while focusing on a person-centered approach.

VEACs are a collaboration that includes representation from the Veterans Health Administration, Veterans Benefits Administration, National Cemetery Administration, state Departments of Veterans Affairs, Veteran Service Officers, and community partners working together to offer one-on-one personalized assistance.

Appointments are available from 10 a.m.– 3 p.m., Tuesday, December 12 – Thursday, December 14. When registering, participants will have the option to schedule a virtual appointment date and time that best fits their availability. A VA representative will call the Veteran during the scheduled time to provide assistance as needed.

Appointment availability is limited. Registration runs through December 10 or until appointment capacity is reached. Please note this event is for residents of Delaware and the New Jersey counties of Atlantic, Cape May, Cumberland, and Salem only—all registrations outside of these areas will be canceled.
