VA Boston housed more than 350 homeless Veterans in 2023

PRESS RELEASE

February 2, 2024

BOSTON , MA — As part of VA’s nationwide homelessness goals, VA Boston Healthcare System housed 359 homeless Veterans in 2023.

These placements, along with placements provided by other VA healthcare systems across America, led to VA housing 46,552 Veterans nationwide, exceeding its national goal by more than 22 percent. VA Boston exceeded its goal by more than 17 percent.

“Thank you to our homeless program staff, grantees, contractors and community partners for making this achievement possible through your commitment and hard work,” said Vincent Ng, director of VA Boston HCS.

Ending Veteran homelessness is a top priority of VA and President Biden, who has made supporting Veterans a key pillar of his Unity Agenda for the nation.

VA Boston also engaged with 173 unsheltered Veterans during the year – exceeding our goal by 90 percent -- connecting them with the housing and resources they need. Additionally, seven of the eight Veterans who returned to homelessness were then rehoused or placed on a pathway to rehousing.

Veterans experiencing homelessness or who are at risk for homelessness can call the National Call Center for Homeless Veterans at 877-4AID-VET – 877-424-3838.
