Mental health care

VA Central Iowa health care operates a comprehensive mental health program. We are a regional center of excellence for Veteran-focused mental health care. Mental health services are available at all locations.

Confidentiality

Mental health services are confidential. We will not talk to anyone outside of your treatment team about information you share unless you give written consent. Under federal law, a few exceptions to this rule exist. If you have questions, please ask your mental health provider.
 

Care we provide at VA Central Iowa Health care

  1. The Mental Health Integrated Clinical Community offers inpatient , residential and outpatient services.  Telehealth appointments are available for outpatient services.  We provide evaluation and treatment for a variety of issues impacting emotional well-being. Our services include:
    •    Inpatient-Psychiatric care for the acutely mentally ill patient.
    •    Residential-Programming for Mental Health issues like PTSD, SUD, etc. 
    •    Outpatient-Individual, Couples and Group offerings. In person and Telehealth options.
    •    Additionally:
    1.   Intensive Community Mental Health Recovery
    2.    Psychosocial Rehabilitation and Recovery Center
    3.    Vocational Rehabilitation
    •    Crisis Resources

VA Central Iowa health care provides health care and other benefits to the newest Veterans returning from service, even if you are still on active duty or an activated member of the National Guard or Reserve.

Whole health puts you at the center of care, rather than your illnesses or conditions. We work with you to develop a personalized health plan based on your values, needs, and goals.

We offer confidential counseling help for Veterans, service members, and their families at no cost in a non-medical setting. Our services include counseling for needs such as depression, post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and the psychological effects of military sexual trauma (MST).
