Minneapolis VA Medical Center salute to Veteran patients

PRESS RELEASE

February 13, 2024

Minneapolis , MN — The Minneapolis VA Medical Center will recognize and honor hospitalized Veterans during a National Salute to Veteran Patients program on Valentine’s Day.

“As we honor the men and women who have answered our nation’s call, we are reminded of our sacred duty to serve those who have served us. That is why VA takes this time during the week of Valentine’s Day to express affection and respect for those who have faithfully served us. This week, out of appreciation and reverence, we salute men and women who have paid, and continue to pay the price of freedom,” said Minneapolis VA Health Care System Director Patrick Kelly.

Following a brief program Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. in the atrium of the Minneapolis VA Medical Center, Veteran Service Organizations, community partners and our VA staff will be visiting and distributing Valentine's gifts to inpatients.

Since 1978, VA has designated the week of Valentine’s Day to provide a weeklong commemoration for Veterans.

Last year, over 25,000 volunteers gave over 3.5 million hours of service to Veterans, families, caregivers, and survivors. Nationwide, communities rallied in support of Veterans, providing over $81 million in monetary and in-kind donations.
