Bozeman Veterans Invited to Sept. 23 Drive-Through Flu Shot Clinic

PRESS RELEASE

September 21, 2023

Bozeman , MT — Drive-Up Flu Shot Clinic Occurring at Travis W. Atkins VA Clinic

Montana VA Health Care System (Montana VA) is providing free flu shots for Veterans enrolled in VA healthcare at the Travis W. Atkins VA Clinic this Saturday, Sept. 23, at a drive-up flu shot clinic from 10:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. To receive a flu shot, all Veterans will remain in their vehicle and staff will come to them. The Travis W. Atkins VA clinic is located at 1101 E Main Street in Bozeman.

Flu is highly contagious, and anyone can get it. It is especially harmful to the elderly and those who have health problems like asthma, diabetes, heart disease, and people with weakened immune symptoms. Pregnant women, people older than 50, health care personnel, and those who care for friends and family members should get a flu shot.

“Flu is a preventable illness, and Montana VA is here to help every Veteran protect themselves and their loved ones with easy access to flu shots,” said Duane Gill, Interim Executive Director for the Montana VA Health Care System.

Montana’s Veterans have multiple options to get their flu shot this year:

  1. Bozeman-area Veterans can receive walk-in flu shots at the Travis W. Atkins VA Clinic in September and October on Mondays and Tuesdays (9:00 am-11:00 a.m.), and Wednesdays (2:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m.).
  2. Veterans who are enrolled with VA healthcare will be offered flu shots at their Montana VA primary care appointments.
  3. No-cost flu vaccines are available to enrolled Veterans at pharmacies and urgent care locations across Montana. To find a close-to-home and in-network community care provider, search by entering in your home zip code in the drop-down menu of the VA locator (https://www.va.gov/find-locations).
  4. Many local Montana VA clinics are holding additional flu shot options, such as drive-in flu clinics or walk-in options. Details are available at https://www.va.gov/montana-health-care/stories/stay-healthy-and-get-your-flu-shot-in-2023.

Montana VA serves over 47,000 enrolled Veterans across Montana—an area roughly 147,000 square miles in size. Veterans are cared for by a staff of 1,400 at 18 sites of care across the state.  One third of Montana VA employees are Veterans.
