Wilmington VA Medical Center to Expand Veteran Health Care Services in Atlantic County

PRESS RELEASE

May 23, 2023

Wilmington , DE — The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs is planning to expand health care services in Atlantic County.

The medical center’s current Community Based Outpatient Clinic operating out of Northfield, NJ will be relocating to a site about two miles away in Linwood, NJ. At over 22,000 square feet the new clinic will be more than double the size of the current, 10,000 square foot clinic.

“Now that we have approval to proceed with 1201 Linwood Acquisitions, LLC we can begin design of the new site,” said Kim Butler, Associate Director, Wilmington VAMC. “As design of this new, state of the art clinic, progresses we look forward to involving our staff and stakeholders to ensure we best meet the current and future needs of our Veterans.”

“In the last five years we’ve seen more than a 12% increase in the number of Veterans we serve in southern New Jersey,” said Jeffery Beiler, Interim Director, Wilmington, VAMC. “Our goal is to provide more services to our Veterans in their communities. This expanded clinic will not only allow us to increase the services already offered at our current location, but also makes space for the addition of new services such as x-ray, CT scan, and physical therapy.”

During the design, construction, and activation of the new clinic, Veterans will not have to worry because care teams will remain the same and there will be no disruption to health care services.

“I am proud of the work we have done to expand vital health care services for Veterans in South Jersey,” said Congressman Van Drew.” Our men and women who have dedicated their lives to serving our country deserve the best quality care, and with the VA clinic more than doubling in size, they will be able to have timely access to additional critical services. I have been involved in every step of the process for the last four years, and I will continue to work everyday to fight for our Veterans just as they have for us.”
