Department of Veterans Affairs Tribal Consultation

The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is holding a tribal consultation on Monday, September 8, 2014, at 1:00-2:30 p.m., at the Hyatt Regency Albuquerque Hotel in Albuquerque, NM.

The consultation topic is the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between VA and the Indian Health Service, and how the MOU has affected care for Veterans.

Download a copy of the Dear Tribal Leader Letter that was mailed on August 1, 2014, for full information. A short information briefing and full text of the VA-IHS 2010 MOU are also available.

Representatives of the Veterans Health Administration (VHA) Office of Rural Health, VHA Chief Business Office, and Office of Public and Intergovernmental Affairs/Office of Tribal Government Relations will be present to seek input from tribal leaders on questions for tribal consultation.

This VA tribal consultation is held in conjunction with the National Indian Health Board's Annual Consumer Conference. Registration for the consultation is not required, but if you wish to register, please submit your name, title, tribe or organization, phone, and email address to
