VA Providence Celebrates Juneteenth
Today, VA Providence honored Juneteenth with a vibrant celebration steeped in history and unity.
The event embraced a red theme, symbolizing the resilience and strength of the African American community. Educational presentations were held to highlight the historical significance of Juneteenth, commemorating the emancipation of enslaved African Americans in the United States. Attendees were treated to a rich cultural experience, enjoying traditional red beans and rice, delectable red velvet cupcakes, and refreshing red Gatorade, all reinforcing the event's unifying color theme.
The Juneteenth celebration at VA Providence was a testament to the community's dedication to recognizing and honoring the importance of this historic day. The educational aspect of the event included an inspirational dance performed by VA Providence's own Tracy Blizzard (HR Specialist/EEO Program Manager). The culinary delights and the vibrant atmosphere created a memorable experience, bringing together Veterans, staff, and community members in a shared celebration of freedom and unity.
Thank you to Michael Norde and Tracy Blizzard for organizing this special event for us.
