Providers, Veterans and partners from Rhode Island Department of Health gathered, last Wednesday at the Cranston Public Library to have a conversation about Veteran suicide.

Providers including Wounded Warrior Project, Family Services of Rhode Island, Newport County Mental Health, and Rhode Island Elder Info joined with the VA Providence Healthcare System, including Caregiver Support, Suicide Prevention and Eligibility and Enrollment as well as the Rhode Island Office of Veterans Services and the Providence Regional Office of the VBA to provide a Veteran resource and networking opportunities.

“Preventing Veteran suicide is the VA’s number one priority,” said Lawrence Connell, VA Providence Director.

“Forums like this are a great opportunity to bring together stakeholders and Veterans to get the information they need", said Kimberly Ferrante, VA Providence Community Engagement and Partnership Coordinator.  The event was funded, in part, by the Staff Sergeant Parker Gordon Fox Suicide Prevention grant.
