Lucille Beck, PhD, serves as Deputy Under Secretary for Health for Policy and Services (DUSHPS) in VA Central Office. In this position, Dr. Beck provides leadership  and oversight on health care policy and clinical programs, strategic objectives, DoD/VA interagency efforts and requirements for legislatively mandated health care delivery programs.

Dr. Beck served as Chief Consultant for Rehabilitation Services since 2002, until her designation as Deputy Chief Patient Care Services Officer for Rehabilitation and Prosthetic Services since March 2014. Dr. Beck previously served as Acting Assistant Deputy Under Secretary for Health for Patient Care Services from October 2016 through February 2017.

Dr. Beck received the Presidential Rank Award for Meritorious Executive Service in 2000, and in 2007 received the Presidential Rank Award for Distinguished Executive Service.  She is the 2008 recipient of the Deafness Research Foundation Research and Public Education Award for outstanding contributions to the development of hearing health care through research and education.  In 2016 she received the Howard E. "Rocky" Stone Humanitarian Award from the Hearing Loss Association of America for her extraordinary contributions to Americans with hearing loss.  She is a founding member and past president of the American Academy of Audiology, and a recipient of its Distinguished Service Award.

She has jointly held faculty appointments at Gallaudet University, George Washington University, and the University of Maryland.  She has authored numerous publications, scientific papers, and is a well-known presenter on topics ranging from amplification, outcomes, patient satisfaction, and other issues in Audiology and Rehabilitation for Veterans.
