Raymond Chung, MD
Chief Medical Officer
Dr. Raymond Chung joined VISN 5 in June 2011 as the Chief Medical Officer. Prior to joining the VA Capitol Health Care Network, Dr. Chung served as Chief of Staff at the Phoenix VA Medical Center from 2006 to 2011 and as the Associate Chief of Staff for Education at the South Texas Veterans Health Care System from 2001 to 2006. He also served as the Associate Professor of Medicine, Infectious Diseases Division, at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio.
Dr. Chung is a retired Colonel of the US Army Medical Corps, where he served from 1975 through 2001. He finished his Army career as Chief of Infectious Disease Service, Walter Reed Army Medical Center.
Dr. Chung holds an S.B. degree in Chemistry from Massachusetts Institute of Technology; an M.D. from the John A. Burns School of Medicine, University of Hawaii; and an M.S. in Health Care Administration from Trinity University, San Antonio, Texas. Additionally, he holds board certifications in Internal Medicine, Infectious Diseases, and is a Certified Physician Executive in Medical Management.
