VISN 5 Health Care Services

The VA Capitol Health Care Network is here for you. All staff within VISN 5 are committed to providing quality clinical care to Veterans, both on an inpatient and outpatient basis, with emphasis being placed on outpatient primary care. Through the dedicated efforts of our staff, the VISN had three of its clinical programs nationally recognized by the Veterans Health Administration as "VA Clinical Programs of Excellence." They are the "Seriously Mentally Ill Program" (a Network-wide initiative), the "Health Care for the Homeless Program" (Washington DC VA Medical Center), and the "Home Based Primary Care Program" (VA Maryland Health Care System). Each of these programs will serve as a model nationally for the Veterans health care system.

Veterans will find comprehensive health care services offered throughout the VISN 5 Service Area:

 Health Care for Returning Combatants offers information regarding health care, benefits, and assistance for Operations Enduring Freedom/Iraqi Freedom and Operation New Dawn service members and their families.

 Homeless Veterans offers information regarding programs and services for homeless Veterans.

 Patient Health Education provides patient health information and links.

 Vocational Services provides information regarding VISN 5's vocational rehabilitation programs.

 Women Veterans Health Care focuses on health promotion, disease prevention and management, and the emotional well being of female Veterans.

The VA Capitol Health Care Network is committed to bringing high-quality, accessible health care to all Veterans in the VISN 5 Service Area. Community-Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs), of which there are 15 in the Network, offer primary care services including physicals, screenings, patient education, and treatment for minor injuries.
