Homeless Veterans

Overarching Accomplishments

46 percent decline in homelessness among Veterans since 2010

Five states—Arkansas, Kansas, Montana, New York, and West Virginia—recorded declines of Veteran homelessness of 40 percent or more between 2015 and 2016

480,000 Veterans and their family members permanently housed, rapidly rehoused, or prevented from falling into homelessness by VA’s homelessness programs and HUD’s targeted housing vouchers since 2010

58 communities and three states — Connecticut, Delaware, and Virginia — have successfully ended Veteran homelessness as of February 2018, with more states and communities announcing this accomplishment almost weekly
