Geriatric Scholars
What is the Geriatric Scholars Program?
It is a VA program that provides continuing education and professional development on geriatric topics. Formats include: intensive educational courses, clinical practicum training experiences, on-going coaching and mentoring opportunities and choices among self-directed learning activities.
Purpose
The goal of the VA Geriatric Scholars Program is to integrate geriatrics into primary care practices through tailored education for professional development. This helps VA provide quality care to our aging Veterans.
Location and Leadership
The VA Geriatric Scholars Program has been generously supported since its inception in 2008 by the VA Office of Rural Health and by the Offices of Patient Care Services and Strategic Integration.
Dr. Josea Kramer is the founder and has been director of the Program since its inception in 2008. Dr. Kramer is also the Associate Director for Education/Evaluation at the VA Greater Los Angeles GRECC.
