*VA engaged Temple University Beasley School of Law to conduct an independent, third-party review of each state’s practice acts for CRNAs and analyze the variance in CRNA practice across states. In September 2022, Temple University published the policy brief titled “Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist Scope of Practice Laws.” As outlined in the introduction, the brief provides an overview of the legal landscape of state CRNA scope of practice laws, summarizes key findings of evidence evaluating the impact of these laws and CRNA practice generally, and provides policy and research recommendations moving forward. This resource is created and maintained by the author and does not reflect the views or opinions of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.

Listening Session Audio Recordings and Transcripts

The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) hosted a series of five virtual Public Listening Sessions for stakeholders to provide input on known state variances for health care occupations between August and September 2023. Listening sessions excluded occupations where VA had already provided a formal feedback period for their proposed VA national standard of practice on the Federal Register.
