Our Doctors

The "Our Doctors" online directory lists physicians, dentists, nurse practitioners and other Licensed Independent Practitioners at a local medical center and within that health care system.

What's an independent licensed health care practitioner? Officially it's "Any individual permitted by law and by the organization to provide care and services, within the scope of the individual's license and consistent with individually granted clinical privileges." The clinical staff are those "providers" that direct or prescribe your care within their field of expertise. A clinical privilege is based on licensing, experience and competency.

While called "Our Doctors," the tool lists more than just physicians, with the directory including nurse practitioners, dentists, physician assistants, psychologists and other staff that are directly involved in your care. Anyone can search and sort information for these providers based on your preferences and needs. The directory lists this staff in alphabetic order with their name, education, license, specialty and gender. For example, a listing of Surgeons shows name, education, board certification, specialty surgical area and where he/she is licensed to practice. With regular updates and additions to the directory, the resource is part of VA's ongoing effort to provide the highest quality information and care.

The Veterans Health Administration wants to provide helpful information to our Veterans and their caregivers. We strive to have accurate information posted on this website. Information on practitioners' current license(s) and board certification(s) is updated periodically and we are currently reviewing the data for accuracy. Board certification may be with one of several board certifying bodies and is not a requirement of VHA.

If you have a concern about a provider to whom you have been referred, please speak with your health care team. If you have a question about care you have already received, please contact the Patient Advocate at your facility.
