Geriatrics and Extended Care
Geriatrics and Extended Care Data and Analysis Center
The Geriatrics and Extended Care Data and Analysis Center (GECDAC), started in 2012, is a program office that collects and analyzes population-based data about Geriatrics and Extended Care (GEC) programs and services, and how they affect the Veterans served by VA. GECDAC evaluates VA GEC programs and provides evidence-based information to facilitate continuous quality improvement of these programs. Because many older Veterans receive care both from VA and outside the VA, these evaluations includes VA, Medicare and Medicaid data. This information can be used to compare care received in different VA Medical Centers, examine how care has changed over the past several years, address issues such as barriers to access of care and unmet demand, and assist in the continuous improvement of extended care that our Veterans will receive.
The Geriatrics Extended Care Data and Analysis Center (GECDAC) transforms delivery, improvement, and integration of long term services and supports across all health care settings.
The Geriatrics Extended Care Data and Analysis Center (GECDAC) provides an infrastructure for the acquisition and analysis of data from multiple sources to inform decision making regarding the delivery, quality and cost of care of geriatric extended care programs. GECDAC is an integral data resource for shaping policy and operations to ensure Veterans receive patient-centered care and assure stakeholders that the services promote optimal quality of life and independence in the most cost effective manner.
