Geriatrics and Extended Care Data Analysis Center

What is the GEC DAC?

The Geriatrics and Extended Care Data Analysis Center (GEC DAC) is a program office that collects and analyses population-based data about Geriatrics and Extended Care (GEC) programs and services, and how they affect the Veterans served by VA.

GEC DAC Purpose

GEC DAC evaluates VA geriatric and extended care programs and provides evidence-based information to facilitate continuous quality improvement of these programs. Because many older Veterans receive care both from VA and outside the VA, this evaluation includes VA, Medicare and Medicaid data. This information can be used to compare care received in different VA Medical Centers, examine how care has changed over the past several years, address issues such as barriers to access of care and unmet demand, and assist in the continuous improvement of extended care that our Veterans will receive.

Location and Leadership

The GEC DAC is located on the campus of the Canandaigua VA Medical Center. Since 2012 it has been lead by Orna Intrator, PhD. - Phone: 585.393.7164 Email: orna.intrator@va.gov
